2019 USA Mission Experience

In 4 1/2 months, I will be flying to the Finger Lakes Region of New York State to represent the Synod of the Southwest at the USA Mission Experience. Our itinerary for the ten-day trip is set. My airline tickets are purchased. I've read four of the six books on our reading list. My excitement is growing!!!

Our itinerary includes over twenty locations including: Erie Canal Museum, Safe Haven Holocaust Refuge Shelter Museum, Civil War Prison Camp, Mark Twain Center, Harriet Tubman National Historical Park, National Susan B. Anthony Museum and House, Liturgia Rural Worker Education Center and National Women's Hall of Fame.

Why does Presbyterian Women sponsor the USA Mission Experience? Representatives from the sixteen Synods of our Presbyterian Church USA travel to learn about the history, culture and needs of regions in our country. (The Global Mission Experience reaches out to countries around the world, most recently to Indonesia.) For two years following my trip, I will be available to visit churches in the Synod of the Southwest to share my experience. I already have three "gigs" scheduled!

I am extremely grateful to the members of Desert Palms for their financial support for my trip. Presbyterian Women of Desert Palms has contributed $500.00 toward the $3,000.00 cost of the ten-day experience and my travel expenses. In addition, some of our members have personally contributed. The Synod of the Southwest has given me a grant of $500.00. I ask for your prayers as I prepare for this adventure. Others who have gone on previous Mission Experiences have told me that it was a "life changing" experience.

Blessings,

Carol Main, USAME Representative for the Synod of the Southwest
