Quilt Group

Don’t forget the Quilt Group meets the first and third Thursdays every month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.

Do come to see what we’re doing—even if you are not a quilter. If you have any questions, please contact Peggy Elmer.  For specific dates, look at the "Coming Events" section of our website.

QUILT GROUP

Through the diligent work of our quilting ladies, our home sewers, and those of you who donate various items (and money), we have had another successful year.

We have again sent 105 quilts to Mingus Mountain Academy. With all the stuffed animals that were given to us, we were able to make a lot of children happy. We sent two bags to Del Webb Emergency Hospital, three bags to Nadaburg School, and three bags to Mingus Mountain Academy. These were all large bags.

Our faithful quilting ladies got a good start in 2010 by making kits for our quilts. We now have a good supply for our home sewers. Many of our faithful ladies are also our home sewers. If you like to sew but are not particularly interested in quilting, perhaps you would like to become one of our home sewers. Our system for sewing the squares together is very easy. Stop in at Fellowship Hall on the first or third Thursday of the month, or give me a call and I will meet you during Coffee Hour any Sunday. I can quickly show you how we do it. We also have written instructions for you to take home as a reminder.

Again, thank you for all your help. As we have said before, this is a group project.

QUILT GROUP

On October 14, fifteen Quilting ladies motored to Mingus Mountain Academy to see their annual Rodeo. However, we were disappointed to not see a Rodeo, due to an earlier severe storm, which left the area very muddy. Performing would have put both the girls and the horses in danger.

The girls were our hostesses and gave us tours individually and in small groups, showing us their dorms and classrooms, the gymnasium, and chapel. All of them were cheerful, happy, and outgoing. They were very open as to why they were there, and how happy they were to be there.

Although it was quite windy on top of the mountain, we all had a delicious lunch outdoors on the patio. There must have been about 100 guests, and everyone was congenial and enjoyed meeting the girls.
