Scholarship Sunday
Sunday, February 23, during worship services.

Scholarship 2

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” Take a guess who said this. It was Nelson Mandela, and he spent his life working to change the way of thinking for an entire nation.

Think about your own education and the opportunities it gave you to provide a life for you and your family.  Most have used it to allow them a retirement lifestyle here in Arizona.

On February 23, we will celebrate Scholarship Sunday with several of our students in attendance for worship services. We will also dedicate two plaques to recognize a minimum $30,000 contribution made to our Scholarship Endowment.

We currently support twenty-six students with tuition and books paid for at Glendale Community College and Estrella Mountain Community College, with 2019 expenditures exceeding $92.000.

Since its inception, our scholarship program has paid over $600,000 to local high school graduates to pursue their educations. Our target is the B/C student who is not in the top ten percent of their class, but has been identified by their counselors as a highly motivated individual who would be unable to attend college without our assistance.  All of these students have jobs to support their living expenses.

We have an endowment, currently exceeding two million dollars, that generates dividend distributions of $40,000 to $45,000.

Evaluate the importance of education in your life, and remember Nelson Mandela’s statement and together we can make a major difference in the life of a young person.
