Worry Creates Extra Stress!

Worry Creates Extra Stress!

As I listen to many of your stories of life, the word “worry and stress” is often shared as a part of the story.

Worry creates extra stress in all of our daily lives … we use our precious time and energy creating negative thought processes of our situations. Worry is not helpful to our mental and physical health, it may contribute to chronic inflammation, hypertension, heart disease and diabetes and more.

Although some stress can be helpful, ongoing stress is not.    My hope and prayer is that we can turn to God in those times of worry. Below are a few Bible verses that you might find helpful … read them, post them on your refrigerator, memorize them…

· "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."   Philippians 4:6-7

· "And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?" Matthew 6:27

· "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

· "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3: 5-6

· “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matthew 6:34

Additional thoughts for your reflection:

· Faith is the ability to not panic

· As a child of God, prayer is kind of like calling home every day

· When worry begins to overtake us, Be still. God wants us to be still so we can hear Him. (Be still and know that I am God Psalm 46:10)

May your Spring be filled with quiet non-worry moments with God.
