Dear Desert Palms Presbyterian Church Family,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff and families of Homeward Bound, please accept our most sincere thanks for your generous donation of Philosophy products, toiletries, baby shampoo, baby wipes, Mother’s Day bags, and many other goodies!  You helped to make this Mother’s Day a day that will never be forgotten by the clients at Homeward Bound.  As the mother’s received their lovely bags, their faces lit up with joy!  It touched each and every one of their hearts to know someone was thinking of them on that special day.  Your commitment to breaking the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness and your endless compassion are the reason our clients are able to succeed.  Our belief is that through combined efforts our families will gain confidence, stabilize employment and become financially independent members of our community.

At Homeward Bound, we believe in giving people “a hand up, not a handout.”  The ability to attain self-reliance is undoubtedly one of the most important accomplishments a

family can achieve.  By maintaining and providing an effective program, we are able to assist our clients as they strive to reach their full potential.

Although there are hundreds of other deserving charities, we thank you for recognizing the importance of Homeward Bound’s mission and for choosing to support our endeavors.  May we continue to inspire you as you inspire us.

It’s time for an update on this great organization. And we are particularly pleased to be able to put a “face” with the words. Please meet Laura and her daughter Rayna, age seven. They are doing well as residents at Homeward Bound. As their Family Advocate, we meet with Laura and Rayna and their Case Manager regularly. We also maintain contact with cards and phone calls. It’s so rewarding to watch them both learn and mature. We share in their achievements as well as the difficult times. And it’s always such a joy to hug and support them!

Laura works for Amazon and is hoping to save and budget well enough so that she and Rayna can eventually move off campus and live independently. She is growing in her understanding and skills in the employment sector, and is making strides toward a stable career where she can grow and prosper.

Rayna continues to do well in school and is a happy, smiley little girl to be around. She is learning to be a big help to her mother around the house. Reading is her favorite subject, and she also recently finished her first Girl Scouts experience which was great fun for her. She will go to the YWCA this summer while her mom is at work.

A portion of your Mission Care Sunday offerings is sent to Homeward Bound and benefits similar families. We are privileged to act as Advocates on your behalf.
