Care and Support - A Deacon Update

Although the current pandemic prevents us from being together on our campus, our church is committed to continue to support and encourage one another. During this time of social distancing, our deacons have continued to reach out to those in their care groups. Moderator, Peggy Munis, has encouraged each deacon to touch base with those in their group, by phone, email, and mail, as appropriate. We are also grateful for the group of volunteers who have also assisted with making calls and reaching out to the congregation. Pastors Linda and Jim, follow up as needed. Nurse Mary, Kimberly and Rachel have also provided support and follow up assistance.

During this time people may have more feelings of loneliness or isolation, so it is important to remember that we are the church! If someone you know needs support, give them a call or send them a note and encourage them to participate in worship online. (If you would like to hear from your deacon and don’t know who your deacon is, contact the church office by phone or email and we will have your deacon get in touch with you.) Additional support is also available from our Stephen Ministers. These dedicated men and women can provide confidential emotional support that is grounded in Christian faith. To arrange a conversation, contact Pastor Linda at linda@desertpalmschurch.org and she will get in touch with you. If you need help with a meal, contact Kimberly Hill at kimberly@desertpalmschurch.org for more information.
