Christmas Joy Offering

JOY, JOY, JOY, you hear a lot about this at this time of the year.

The Presbyterian Church USA has four special offerings per year, and the Christmas Joy offering which will be collected on Sunday, December 18 is a very special offering.

One half of the Christmas Joy offering helps current and retired Presbyterian church workers and their surviving spouses by providing funds to help them through life's challenging circumstances. Many of these people have very low retirement income and so this helps to supplement their income.

The other half of the Christmas Joy offering goes to help Presbyterian Racial Ethnic schools and colleges. There are six schools and colleges that receive funding from the Christmas Joy offering. One of those is the Cook Native American Ministries right here in Tempe, Arizona. It specializes in Christian and theological education for the Native American students here in our own state of Arizona.

Menaul School in Albuquerque, New Mexico is another school that we have supported over the years. It is a college prep school for Hispanic and Native students. It has a high ratio of persons continuing their college education.

Special envelopes for this Christmas Joy offering are included in your Palms newsletter and also in the pew racks.

We thank you for your support of this very special Christmas Joy offering.
